WA DNR Hosts Pick-Up The Burn 2024

THE TIME IS HERE!

It’s that time of year again, the annual Pick-Up The Burn community volunteer event is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024. Meeting place will be at the Jones Creek Trailhead parking lot at 8 AM. Volunteers from a variety of recreational groups including motorized, hiking, biking and equestrian all join in one place to help improve the conditions in the Yacolt Burn State Forest. Work is available for those of all ages and skill levels, so please bring your family & friends along to partake in this effort to make our public lands the best they can be.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE

  • Picking up litter
  • Performing general maintenance
  • Improving recreation sites

WHAT TO BRING

  • Please bring gloves, working cloths for the weather, and plenty of water!
  • Rakes, shovels, trash pickers and/or magnet tools.
  • Bring your friend, bring your dog, bring your friend’s dog! But keep them on a leash! Maybe not your friend on a leash though…
  • And most important, a positive attitude to clean up the forest!

DIRECTIONS

From northbound or southbound I-5, take I-205 exit toward Vancouver, WA. Use Highway 500 East (Exit 30-Orchards Exit).
Go east on Highway 500 to Fourth Plain (1st light) and turn right continuing on Highway 500 East (Camas) Go 6.3 miles, then turn left
on 53rd Street. Go 3.2 miles, and turn left on Ireland Road. Go 0.3 miles and turn left on Lessard Road. Continue on Lessard Road (turns
into Boulder Rd.) for 4 miles. Veer left at the fork, and proceed toward the parking lot/staging area.

Trash containers will be located at the Jones Creek ORV Trailhead and near 4 Corners at the Junction of the L-1000 and L-1500 road.

This is an agency-approved volunteer event. Hours worked can apply toward earning a complimentary Discover Pass.

Sign-in and safety meeting at 8 AM with morning coffee, donuts and good conversation with people you’ll be glad to meet. Then disperse around the forest to help clean up the whole Yacolt Burn.
